Clean Sky at the Workshop on aeronautics research infrastructure
During the Workshop on aeronautics research infrastructure organised by the Air-TN consortium in Brussels 25th January, Eric Dautriat, Executive Director of the Clean Sky JU, chaired the session "Preparing the Future for Aeronautics".
He highlighted the importance of keeping and upgrading the strategic research infrastructures, with a common understanding and coordinated approach at European level:
"Investment costs or annual costs shall not be the only criteria to be considered. A consensus should be reached on the core infrastructures to be prioritized, taking into consideration medium and long term needs".
Eric Dautriat concluded that while the most urgent action is to find a solution for maintaining large existing infrastructures like wind-tunnels, European effort shall also cover future needs such as simulation tools, technology evaluators and test aircrafts.
