Interim evaluation: "Clean Sky should be continued"

18/11/2011

The European Commission (DG RTD Transport Directorate) has issued its response to the first Clean Sky JTI interim evaluation. The evaluation panel assessed Clean Sky as "an ambitious European initiative with the potential to become a new model of a public-private-partnership (PPP)." It concluded that the Clean Sky initiative should be continued with special attention towards adhering to the main objectives and the work plans.

"This first interim assessment is very encouraging for us. It highlights our achievements and provides for helpful recommendations" said Eric Dautriat, CSJU Executive Director. "Further, being considered as a "potential model for future PPPs" is the best recognition we could expect for the efforts made by all parties to have an efficient Joint Undertaking. The conclusions of this report also highlight that we have to focus on our priorities and deliver on time: the assessment panel has rightly pinpointed that Clean Sky is not just another large research project, but a consistent demonstration programme with objectives shared  by the entire aeronautical community".

The assessment and response from the Commission served also as input for the Commission Communication on Partnering in Research and Innovation that was adopted on 21 September 2011.
